Tonga Metrological Office to enhance its warning system soon

Tonga Meteorological Office will enhance its early warning systems to monitor and forecast severe weather and tropical cyclones soon.
This will help save lives through early warning.
This is one of the items of the agenda of the analysis and application of Himawari-8 data, in one week regional training underway in Nadi, Fiji.
Information from Government says, Tonga Meteorological Services forecasters Mr. ‘Aisea ‘Akauola and Mr. Laitia Fifita are representing Tonga at the meeting.
This regional training is one of the key training provided to National Meteorological and Hydrological Services whereby operational forecasters meets and share experiences in operations as well as receiving advance technical training in the utilization of Himawari-8, the Japanese weather satellite.
Benefits of joining such training is that the obtained skills from international and regional level can be implemented locally.
