Tonga celebrates 83rd birthday of Emperor Akihito of Japan

Their Royal Highnesses, Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukālala and Crown Princess Sinaitakala Tuku’aho yesterday joined the Ambassador of Japan amongst many guests in celebrating the 83rd birthday of Emperor Akihito of Japan.
The special celebration was led by the Ambassador – H.E. Yukio Numata and his office.
In his address to the gathering, H.E. Numata praised all the good working relations between the two governments and even supporting each other to develop various sectors in each respective countries.
“Every year since the session of the Emperor to the throne, the 23rd of December has become the day of country wide celebration for the people of Japan. Our nation’s 31st adherence to unity and harmony is motivated by our Emperor’s Dignity. Your Royal highnesses, on behalf of the people of Japan, please accept our whole hearted gratitude for your generous presence tonight. Which for us Japanese living here is an aspect of warm of friendship between the people of Tonga and Japan.
Meanwhile the Acting Prime Minister, Lord Ma’afu thanked His Excellency and his Government for all the assistance provided for the people of Tonga.
“Our 40 years of relation between Japan and Tonga has flourished. With the unique nature of the culture and distinct relationship of the Tongan Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Household. A relationship that has been fortified, through world visits, commemorating and observing different events. Your Excellency, His Majesty’s government acknowledges with sincere appreciation the diverse development cooperation and technical assistance program implemented by your government. We’re satisfied that this will continue to support Tonga’s Development priorities.”
The occasion was attended by Lord Tu’ivakanō and some Member Parliaments, members of the Diplomatic Corps, His Eminence Soane Patita Cardinal Mafi, Hon. Fane Tupou Vava’u Tu’ivakanō and many guests.
