New inter-island Ferry arrives Nuku’alofa to commence operation next week

A New inter island Ferry arrived Nuku’alofa to start operating to the outer islands starting next week.
The new ferry, MV Vaomapa is one of Tōfā Ramsy Shipping Limited’s vessels.
This shipping company has been in operation for several decades serving mainly the islands of Ha’apai and ‘Eua.
The CEO of the Company, Tuna Mai Langi Ramsay Likiliki says, they bought the ship from Korea, in addition to the MV Alaimoana to help provide efficient inter-island services to the people of Tonga.
The MV Vaomapa has a carrying capacity of 270 passengers and 120 tons of cargoes.
Tuna adds the company was established by his Grandfather Tōfā Ramsy who was a business man and MP for the Ha’apai Islands about 60 years ago, and the new vessel and the company is in his memory and what he tried to establish for the Islanders of the Ha’apai group.
The vessel will be blessed next Wednesday and will start operating to ‘Eua.
The company’s also looking at operating to the Ha’apai Group, Vava’u and the Niuas through close collaboration with the government.
