Ministry of Health welcome more than 20 returning Scholars

A special program was conducted this morning by the Ministry of Health, to welcome more than 20 returning Scholars from various Universities overseas to assume duties at the Ministry.
Speaking during the program to Welcome the Scholars, the Director of Health, Dr. Siale ‘Akauola congratulated the students and encouraged them on the new chapter of their life’s journey.
He adds it is vital that they don’t feel discouraged or frustrated when they can’t do what they are told to do or get offended if they’re being told off.
He says it happens in every workplace, but the important thing to do is to learn what’s important and useful and move on.
He then introduced the scholars to the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Saia Piukala.
One of the returning scholars, Dr. Marina Tu’inukuafe on their behalf thanked the Hon. Minister and senior officials of the Ministry for welcoming them and says, they will do their utmost to serve the Ministry to achieve its vision and mission.
The program started with a prayer service led by the church Minister for Vaiola hospital Rev. Sione Haukinima who urged the staff of the Ministry and returning scholars on the importance of service at their best and honoring our beholder first in everything we do.
This morning’s program also welcomed the staff back to work in the New Year.
The Hon. Minister, Dr. Saia Piukala reminded everyone of the Ministry’s core roles, its mission and vision to achieve.
The 5 core values include Commitment, professionalism, Care and Compassion, Commitment, Staff Training and Partnership.
Dr. Piukala says it is vital that the staff take all 5 into consideration and to comply with.
He highlighted professionalism, he told the staff, professionalism starts from how they welcome the patients, therefore grumpy faces and loud voices is not part of their profession.
Attending this morning’s program was the former Minister of Health, Lord Tangi of Vaonukonuka who is also currently serving the Ministry, Senior Officials and many staff.
