Chinese officials visits Tonga

A delegation of 15 Chinese officials from the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China visited Tonga.

Arken Imirbaki, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee is leading the delegation on this three day visit.

Information from the Chinese Embassy office in Nuku’alofa says the visit aimed to deepen mutual understanding of the Legislative Assembly’s of both countries and enhance our relationship.

They will also present assistance of computers, scanners, printers and other assistance to Tonga.

Today, a meeting will be held with the Honorable Prime Minister, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva at the Fa’onelua convention centre.

It will follow another meeting with the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Lord Tu’ivakano tomorrow in Parliament.

Before the officials depart Tonga a farewell reception will be hosted by the Chinese Ambassador’s office in Nuku’alofa.
