46-year-old father of Ha’atafu drowned on Saturday

A 46-year-old father of Ha’atafu drowned on Saturday at Namo ‘o Lie Beach the second drowning incident so far this year.

Tonga Police say the deceased and another man went fishing early Saturday morning and came back around 10am but were hit by a wave and the deceased jump out of the boat.

His head hit a rock but that was not the cause of death

The other man came back to shore and returned on another boat to help his friend but that boat was swept to shore and so did the body of the deceased which was also washed ashore by the waves.

Police vehicle took the body to the Vaiola mortuary last Saturday.
