However, this is TCC’s program to mark Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated worldwide on the 14th of February every year.

The day is also called Saint Valentine’s Day. It originated as a Western Christian liturgical feast day honoring Saint Valentine.

It is recognized as a significant cultural and commercial celebration in many regions around the world, although it is not a public holiday in any countries.

According to legend, during St Valentine’s imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailor and before his execution; he wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell.

The day first became associated with romantic love during the 14th century and in 18th century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, jewels and so forth.

The tradition has crept into other parts of the world and now Tonga is part of that tradition. It is a time when people show their affections, friendship and love by presentation of gifts.
