Tonga police continues benefiting from the Tripartite Agreement with Australian and NZ government

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Lord Ma’afu and Australian High Commissioner to Tonga Andrew Ford this morning signed a Subsidiary arrangement to allow 1.3 million pa’anga for Tonga Police Development Project for 2017-2018.
The amount is the contribution of the Australian government as part of Tripartite Agreement with New Zealand and Tonga.
Speaking during the signing ceremony – the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Lord Ma’afu praised the continuos support from both governments in this agreement.
He adds this will no doubt help the Ministry deliver their role effectively to the people of Tonga.
Meanwhile the Australian High Commissioner to Tonga – H.E Andrew Ford said, the Australian Government is happy to assist Tonga especially the Ministry of Police.
He adds this agreement’s priorities focus on leadership and building an efficient and effective Tonga Police Force, and Australian and New Zealand Government fully support this.
Tonga Police have benefited from this agreement including the renovation of the central police station as well as police vehicles and many others.
