Speaker of Parliament Lord Tu’ivakano currently attends international parliamentary conference in London in national security discourse

Parliamentarians are encouraged to influence, scrutinize and advocate for national security within their respective countries including Tonga.
The international parliamentary conference in Westminster, London is also to advocate for the engagement of legislators in the national security discourse.
Speaker of Parliament Lord Tuivakano and the Chief Clerk of the house Gloria Pole’o participate in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Cyber Security and Cybercrime Project.
The week long meeting started on Monday until Friday this week.
The meeting also explores the mechanism that parliamentarian may use to influence and hold government, international security, organization and private sector to account.
It also examines the strength between parliamentarian, government, civil society, media, internationa and regional bodies.
The outcome of the meeting is to collaborate with leading organization and expert in development an international community good practice by April this year.
Participants will also produce closing reports and follow up on bilateral and multilateral relationaships.
Sonata Tupou of the office of Tonga’s High Commission in the United Kingdom also participate in the conference.
