Henry ‘Aho elected as new President of the Tonga Leiti Association

Henry ‘Aho of Tofoa has been elected the new president of the Tonga Leiti Association for the next 3 years.
Henry is replacing Joey Mataele, who’s held the post since 2012.
Speaking to Radio and Television Tonga News, Henry expressed how happy he was when he was elected to the post, at the same time grateful for the association’s trust in him to be in the post.
He said he will do his utmost to achieve all work and plans by the Association from the past years and now.
Henry also elaborated on programs that will be conducted while in the post, including consultation at the 3 districts mainly in Tongatapu to talk more of ways that can be used to avoid bullying them in not only the communities but at school also.
They will also look if the law can be amended in order to empower trans gender in Tonga and for public to accept them for who they are.
Lastly Henry says, they will continue with their campaign in raising awareness over HIV aids by taking precautions.
Meanwhile Tonga Leiti Association is gearing to one of its annual competitions known as the Miss Galaxy to be held in July.
According to the Youth Officer of the Association who’s also in charge of the competition, nearly 20 contestants have registered to compete in the contest and majority of them are from overseas.
The Tonga Leitii Association was established in 1992 and currently has about 200 members in Tongatapu alone.
