Vuna Wharf named the best Port in the Pacific for cruise ships in 2016

Vuna Wharf has been named best Pacific Port from more than 20 cruise ships that visited the country last year.
CEO of Ports Authority Mosese Lavemai says they were told by the South Pacific Cruise Line at a Florida meeting.
SP Cruise Line conducted a survey on the issue from various cruise ships that visited the Pacific islands.
Lavemai adds that Tonga got a 9.2 mark out of 10 to become the best port in the region.
In 2014 and 2015 Tonga rated 8.2 and 8.7 respectively.
Lavemai says the challenges for Tonga are to maintain and continue to be the best.
He acknowledged the achievements by related sectors such as tourism.
The preparations made at Vuna Wharf to welcome Cruise ships include performances of traditional dances, brass band groups presentations, display of handicrafts and Tongan made products and visits to scenic spots and historical places.
Last year more than 20 cruise ships visited Nuku’alofa.
