Hundreds admitted to the hospital due to common cold
Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 12/04/2017
The negative impacts of climate change have been evident on the lives of many people.
This follows hundreds of people seeking medical treatments at the hospital due to common cold and diarrhoea.
Medical Superintendent of Vaiola Hospital – Dr. Lisiate ‘Ulufonua said majority of people seeking treatments are young children.
He said this is normal at this time of the year as people were used to the warm weather from summer and we are moving slowly towards winter.
Some of the young children suffer from short breaths due to the flu.
People diagnosed with non-communicable diseases – NCDS such as diabetes and high blood pressure are also vulnerable during this kinds of weather.
Medical Superintendent is urging the public to take good care of their health during this period.
