20 lap tops gifted by the international telecommunication Union to 2 schools in Tonga

Ten laptops were presented by the Hon. Deputy Prime Minister yesterday to the principal of Tonga High School. Taisia Ma’u.
In a separate event in the afternoon, the CEO for MEIDECC Mr. Paula P. Ma’u also presented another 10 laptops to Tupou College’s Acting Principal Saimonita Paongo at Toloa.
The laptops were gifts from the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Mr. Houlin Zhao.
CEO for MEIDECC Mr. Paula P. Ma’u said the IT equipment donated to the schools were part of the promise made by Mr. Zhao during his first official visit to Tonga last year.
Mr. Zhao met with the principals of Tonga High School and Tupou College to observe the use of PCs in the computer labs and to discuss with the two principals the challenges faced in regards to ICT.
Mr. Paula P. Ma’u said the laptops aims at enhancing students learning and for them to utilize it for academic purposes such as projects research and sharing information.
He urged students to make use of the laptops for academic research and hoped that both schools will benefit from the donation.
