Tonga to mark 70th anniversary of SPC in Nuku’alofa next Wednesday

Tonga will mark the 70th anniversary of the Pacific Community – SPC with the launching of the first office in Nuku’alofa next Wednesday.
CEO of MEIDECC – Paula Ma’u said, Tonga has been fortunate to receive various assistance from SPC especially in the health sector , fisheries, Statistic’s Department with Tonga’s Population Census in 2016, Renewable Energy and to name a few.
There are positive expectations Tonga will receive more forms of assistance with the new office in downtown Nuku’alofa.
There are already engineers in place ready to work at a regional level. Paula said Tonga is following its commitment signed by the PM Hon. ‘Akilisi Pohiva and SPC – Director General – Dr. Collin Tukuitonga in the Pacific Islands Forum in Port Moresby, PNG in 2015.
Tonga requested for the initiative and was successfully granted.
