The kingdom’s Consumer Price index for February 2017 increased from the figures of January, 2017

The kingdom’s Consumer Price index for February 2017 increased by almost 4% from the figures of January, 2017.
The annual inflation rate for February was almost 9% compared to over 5% for the previous month.
However, a year earlier, February 2016, the annual inflation was .3% or deflation.
During February, index of local goods increased by over 6 percent while import index was less than 2%.
By commodity groups, food recorded the second largest increase of almost 5& in February 2017.
Prices of some local fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, head cabbages, taro leaves, pineapples, carrots and green coconuts increased.
Prices of some meat, fish and poultry items increased. Household operations, clothing and footwear remain unchanged.
Largest increases of 5% were recorded for tobacco, alcohol and Tongan kava.
