Third Regional Ministerial Meeting for Energy and Transport ended this morning

The Third Regional Ministerial Meeting for Energy and Transport has come to an end in Nuku’alofa this morning.
Deputy Prime Minister – Hon. Siaosi Sovaleni said there were several Memorandum of Understandings – MOU including one for the maritime sector were signed with projects and ended with the release of the communiqué.
DPM said there were agreements made and the meeting set directions for each nation for follow and to act regionally.
Areas discussed at the meeting included challenges faced by both sectors and key areas that needed help with assistance.
It also looked at the international agreement such as the Samoa Pathway, Paris Agreement to name a few.
Tonga’s Highlight from the meeting was the launch of the Pacific Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in downtown Nuku’alofa on Wednesday.
The host for the 4th Ministerial Meeting is yet to be confirmed between Samoa and Papua New Guinea.
