Poasi Ngaluafe acquitted with causing death but convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol

Poasi Ngaluafe- Senior Fisheries Officer has been acquitted of causing death while driving under the influence of alcohol, but was convicted of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol an alternative charge.
Justice Charles Cato fined Ngaluafe to pay a TOP$1,000 or serve 2 months imprisonment.
Poasi Ngaluafe was charged for the death of 46-year-old Uini Kava known as Sotia when he ran over him on May 8th 2016.
In his judgement Justice Cato said the prosecutor submitted that Ngaluafe was speeding however the evidence heard in the court did not reflect that this was the case.
