22-year-old drowned at sea in Tungua, Ha’apai

A 22-year-old man – Viliami Halakeituai Vaea of Tungua Ha’apai drowned at sea on Saturday.
This is the first drowning victim recorded by Police so far this year.
Town Officer of Ha’afeva, who was also leading the post mortem – Viliami Letani Fifita said the incident occured at the Fanga ‘I Tungua after Vaea was helping some fishermen with their boat.
He said, after helping these people, he swam back to shore.
Another person who was waiting on the shore noted Viliami was disappearing and later drowned.
This person went with another boat to look for the deceased.
The deceased body was later discovered and was rushed to the hospital but he was already gone.
He was laid to rest today.
