All Petroleum product prices increased, effective yesterday

Prices for All petroleum products has increased for the next two months beginning yesterday May 16th.

 

Sandra Fifita of the Competent Authority says petroleum prices increased with an average of 5 seniti per liter for petrol, diesel and kerosene.

 

The price increases TOP$2.40 last month to TOP$2.54 this month, increase TOP$3.64 with TOP$1.48 the price TOP$2.46 per liter to TOP$2.50. As for kerosene there increase 2.2% increase which is TOP$4.5 to TOP$1.71”

 

All price changes include consumption tax.

“The overall prices contributed to our monthly costs. Over 80% of the cost is attributed to the crude oil prices and the product price from the suppliers which are Singapore. So these changes have continued to rise in the month of April and one thing to be reminded the pricing in based on Month last petroleum prices from suppliers Total and Pacific Energy”

Some Taxi owners in Tonga told Radio Tonga News they are concerned with this new price and their services will be maintained at the current rates until a meeting with the labor division is held.

 

They hope to propose for an increase to the current taxi rates of TOP$3.00 for the first kilometer and 89 seniti for every extra kilometer.
