Manatu ki ‘Api scheme launched in Australia

The Patron of the Tonga National Retirement Benefit Funds & Welfare Program – HRH Princess Latufuipeka launched the Manatu ki ‘api or Longing for Home retirement scheme in Australia.

 

The scheme is for Tongan people in Australia to invest money for their parents through the Retirement Fund.

 

Her Royal Highness said, the program aims to reduce poverty in Tonga and financially assist the elderlies.

 

CEO, of Tonga National Retirement Benefit Funds –  Dr. Leimoni Taufu’i said, they’ve collected 34 million pa’anga since the operation began four years ago.

 

Last year,they collected 7.3 million pa’anga of which 900 thousand pa’anga,  will be distributed  to its members.

 

The Retirement fund has more than 1thousand registered members.

 

The Manatu ki ‘Api program was launched in New Zealand in 2015 and it is planned to extend to the US soon.
