Phase Two – Road Safety campaign has been effective

The Phase two of the National Road Safety campaign has been effective since its commencement in May with the purpose to reduce the number of road fatalities and further public awareness on road safety.

 

The Acting Superintendent of the Nuku’alofa Police Station – Tevita Vailea said the campaign has saved lives.

 

This year only one person has died from road accident, comparing to the same time last year with 9 victims.

 

Last Saturday, the Ministry of Infrastructure marked the completion of the projects by awarding schools with prizes for various competition on Road safety.

 

The campaigned reached out to more than 10thousand students in the Nuku’alofa area.

 

About 20 primary schools took part in the campaign.
