Construction of Queen Salote Domestic wharf nears completion
The Queen Salote Domestic Wharf has completed 69% of its construction.
A spokesperson from JICA said, the construction was expected to complete in January next year, but general work are ahead of time and it will be completed by December.
The project is worth TOP$66 million funded by the Government of Japan.
The construction work is conducted by the Japanese company – TOA which employs workers from Japan, Philippines and more than a 100 Tongans.
The project aims to ensure safer wharves for sea transportation.
Its official opening is yet to be confirmed.
