Royal Agricultural Show kicked off today with a Royal Tour

The Royal Agricultural Show started in Vava’u today with His Majesty leading a royal tour to the small outlying islands of Vava’u.
Their Majesties – King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u with members of the Royal Family travelled on the VOEA Pangai through the outlying islands of Lotuma, Kapa, Hunga and Late and to the island of Ovaka this afternoon.
The people of the island made their traditional presentation – ha’unga with a royal luncheon served with entertainment.
The Elderlies in the island were very happy to meet the King for the first time.
On the welcoming remark – Minister of Agriculture Hon. Semisi Fakahau noted the Ovaka is the first island in Vava’u to be part of the special management areas – SMA and has set great examples to the rest of the islands on how to earn better income from the ocean.
The People’s Representative of Vava’u 14 to Parliament – Hon. Dr. Saia Piukala thanked Their Majesties for visiting their islands to meet the people and said, the memories of today will be forever cherished.
On the Royal Tour, His Majesty visited more than 10 special management areas – SMA.
This is the first time His Majesty visited the small islands of Vava’u as part of the Royal Agricultural Show.
Final Day of the Vava’u’s Agricultural Show will be on Friday with inspection of goods, commodities and produce and the prize giving awards in Neiafu.
