Fua’amotu showcased their finest products today

The Royal Agricultural Show is not only to showcase the hard labor of women and men throughout Tonga but also to ensure abundant supplies of food for the villagers and make it a source of income for individual families. The Minister of Education and Training who is also people’s representative of Tongatapu 9 – highlights the issue during Fua’amotu’s mini show today.
The program started with the village inspection.
It followed the inspection of handicrafts, Tongan traditional possessions of fine mats and tapa together with the hard labor of farmers.
The program was led by the Minister and the Free Wesleyan Church Minister – Rev. Moli Fakava.
The Honorable Minister says the villagers should make use of their talents to help their financial needs.
“Today we’ve witnessed that the people of Prince Tungi can cater for their needs. It is therefore important that we ensure that these abundant supplies continue and become sustainable not only as a source of income for the families but also for their daily needs. It is also important that we practice commercial farming and ear mark that income for our children’s education…”
Meanwhile Telefoni Laume the town officer says this mini-show is part of H.S.H Prince Tungi’s plan to ensure that his people have abundant supplies of food at all times.
“This is to encourage locals to contribute and be a part of this annual show. It is hoped that this mini show will be an inspiration”
The program continued with the prize giving ceremony where block number 6 claimed almost all the prizes.
Prince Tungi also showed support to his people through monetary assistance to the program, some farmers in the village have exported some of their produce overseas.
