Typhoid cases on the rise

The Ministry of Health has recorded 25 cases of typhoid with 6 healthy carriers since February.
A healthy carrier is a person that has contracted typhoid, with no symptoms evident yet.
Although unaffected by the disease, healthy carriers can transmit it to others.
The latest case was last week an adult from the Eastern District.
Temporary bans are imposed on villages of Lapaha, Fangaloto and Halaleva.
Medical officers are carrying out healthy campaigns in areas with typhoid.
Health Officials are urging the public to practice healthy and hygienic lifestyle to prevent contracting the contagious disease.
