King officially commissioned the newest building in town

His Majesty – King Tupou VI has officially commissioned the historical St. George Government Building this morning at the Pangai Si’i Ground.
His Majesty also unveiled the plaque to mark the auspicious event.
The blessing of the new building was led by the President of the Free Wesleyan of Church of Tonga – Rev. Dr. ‘Ahio.
Speaking at the Program the Prime Minister – Hon. ‘Akilisi Pohiva says the agreement for the newest building was signed in 2012 as part of the China – Tonga cooperation.
He adds, the new building will house the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.
“One of the significance of the building it accommodates the cabinet chambers which is fully equipped. the landmark a monument national icon for Tonga. Today we gather here to accompany to witness the successful completion of the St. George GB to mark its officially opening. I am honored on behalf King and the Queen gratitude to the government of PRC for your generosity.”
The Chinese Ambassador to Tonga – H.E Wang Baodong says China will continue to seek mutual cooperation with the Pacific Region including Tonga.
“China will continue with peach and work together new typewin cooperation cooperating to realize. Ladies and gentlemen great important Chinese believes with the people we are 20 anniversary more than confident relationship affirm with the two countries but also serve the peace stability Pacific island people. Which invite to his or her office new building in the coming days.”
The TOP$25 million project commenced in 2015 and the construction work was completed this year.
The Shanghai Construction Group of China, constructed the St. George Government Building which is a gift from the people’s republic of china.
