Tonga’s PM in Samoa for the Forum

Tonga’s Prime Minister – Hon. ‘Akilisi Pohiva is leading Tonga’s delegation to the Pacific Island Forum in Samoa.  Accompanying the Prime Minister is the Minister of Agriculture – Hon. Semisi Fakahau and the Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure – Hon. Semisi Sika.


Tonga will Chair the 7th Polynesian Leaders Group meeting today with the theme sustainable Polynesia, Empowering Polynesia through innovation, infrastructural cooperation and resilience.


Today the Small Island States Leaders will meet and tomorrow there will be the official opening of the 48th Pacific Islands Forum summit.


Samoa’s Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, who will be taking over the chairmanship of the Forum, highlighted this week’s summit theme of ‘The Blue Pacific.


He said it aims to ensure a sustainable, secure, resilient and peaceful Pacific.


At the Forum summit most countries will be represented by their respective heads of government.
