Prices for petroleum products continue to spiral
Radio & TV Tonga, Nuku’alofa, 20/09/2017
The prices for petroleum products have increased further effective last Saturday 16th of September. This is a reflection from the damage to oil refineries in the US gulf coast from Hurricane Harvey.
Wholesale prices for dieseline and kerosene are increasing by 4 and 5 seniti per liter respectively while price for petrol rises by 9 seniti per liter.
Retail prices for these products are parallel to the wholesale price rises for the coming month.
The increase therefore in these prices is in line with the prices for crude oil due to the refinery disruptions from Hurricane Harvey.
The increase in petrol particularly, will affect taxi services which highly uses petrol and who often raises their hope for increases in taxi rates.
