New Zealand financially assisted Tonga for the General Election

New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Tonga, Sarah Walsh has confirmed that New Zealand will contribute 202 thousand pa’anga support preparations for Tonga’s November 2017 General Election, as requested by the Government of Tonga.
H.E Sarah Walsh says the funding will go towards printing of the electoral roll and ballot papers, public
awareness advertising and broadcasting, travel and training for election officials, and
hiring of venues for polling stations.
The Supervisor of Election – Pita Vuki says, they’re finalizing paper work to be distributed to the outer islands next week as the General Election will be on 16th on November.
86 candidates registered for the upcoming election with 15 being female.
