More than 40 people fined for littering.

42 people has been fined due to littering in public places, burning of waste and illegal disposing of waste.
Filimone Lapao’o from the Ministry of Environment says, the initiative started three weeks ago with the purpose to promote a healthier and greener environment.
Included in the 42 people are bus drivers who were not able to provide a trash can and taxi drivers.
The fines are from T$20.00 for just littering, T$50.00 for burning the rubbish without toxic materials such as plastic and rubber and T$100-500 pa’anga for burning of plastic.
Environmentalist are urging the public to dispose waste in a mindful manner to avoid tickets from authorities.
