More than 300 cartons of tobacco destroyed

The Ministry Customs with related stakeholders destroyed more than 300 cartons of tobacco on Saturday.
The head of Customs Division – Kelemete Vahe says these items had to be destroyed immediately because it was no longer fit for human consumption.
He adds, the importer followed legal proceedings however the tobacco imported, were not popular, it had been stored in the warehouse for over a year.
The destroyed items were soaked in water before buried at the Tapuhia dumping site.
The process of destroying the tobacco started on Saturday to be completed this weekend.
