Girl Guides celebrated 65th anniversary in Tonga

The Girl Guides Association in the kingdom of Tonga celebrated their 65th anniversary last week.
This three-day celebration began on Friday, along with the world in which they held a fundraising program and then attended the Remembrance Day which was held in Pangai cenotaph and concluded the program on Sunday with a church service that was held at a Catholic mass program at Basilica yesterday.
Vicar General of the Catholic Church, Monsignor Lutoviko Finau praises the Association for their hard work and commitment to the country.
He also thanked the families in achieving so much academically but never failing to put God first in their lives.
The Girl Guides Association was established on November 12, 1952 by Her Majesty – Queen Salote Tupou III with the vision to develop the girls to their full potential to be good citizens of the world.
About 1500 girls from as young as 5 years old to 35 years old are in the Girl Guides Association.
Attending the Catholic mass program yesterday was Lady Tuna Fielakepa and the President of the Girl Guides Association, Rev. Sela Na’a Latu.
