NRBT host 32nd Annual Meeting of the South Pacific Central Bank Governors.

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga (NRBT) is hosting the 32nd Annual Meeting of the South Pacific Central Bank Governors, for the second time, and will be chaired by the Governor of NRBT Mr. Sione Ngongo Kioa.
In a statement from the NRBT, this meeting will have have presentations by representatives from the commercial banks’ in the region, to provide an annual update and their plans to contribute towards the economic and social development of the Pacific region.
Also on the agenda are discussions of current financial issues that are of significance to the Pacific such as responses to de-risking, promotion of financial inclusion, development of sustainable and trade finances, and other important issues regarding the economic development and financial stability.
Governor of NRBT, Sione Ngongo Kioa, stated that this meeting is the principal forum for the South Pacific Central Bank Governors to dialogue and discuss common issues facing our region and to share ideas that will enhance their role in striving to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability which are the backbone to economic development in a small island economy.
At this annual meeting, members include governors of the Reserve Banks of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, and Tonga.
The meeting commences tomorrow and concludes on Friday.
