Tonga and China signed MOU yesterday

The government of Tonga has signed a MOU agreement with the People’s Republic of China yesterday.
Representing the Tongan Government was the Minister for Agriculture, Food Forestry and Fisheries – Hon. Semisi Fakahau and the Official from the Government of China – Hon. Li Yuan Ping.
CEO of Agriculture – Dr. Viliami Manu says, the agreement will enable the Tongan produce to be sold in overseas market especially in China.
Tonga started shipping the local squash two years ago to Chinese supermarket.
As a result, the market is very pleased with Tonga’s produce from the agricultural sector and fisheries.
About 1,000 tons of squash is expected from Tonga to China next year.
