Commonwealth observers in Nuku’alofa ready to start

The Observers from the Commonwealth are in Tonga to observe the Election this Thursday.
Leading the delegation, the former Attorney General and Speaker of New Zealand the Hon. Margaret Wilson, part of the delegation is Fiji’s Supervisor of Election – Mohammed Saneem, Nauru’s Supervisor of election Cain, and a human rights lawyer Lomcembo Dlamini from the Kingdom of Swaziland from Africa.
During the media conference, Hon. Wilson, said the observation will not interfere with the process.
She emphasized they will act impartiality, objectivity and independence. She added, the Government of Tonga invited the Commonwealth to observe this year’s election, and it is the first national election in the Kingdom.
Their task as observers to consider all factors relating to the credibility of the electoral process as a whole.
Meanwhile about 146 police officers will be assigned to each polling station on Thursday.
