Vital to preserve knowledge about Pacific cultural history

There is a need to know more about the history of one’s country so that it can be preserve and passed on to the next generations. That is the purpose of a seminar that was held this morning at the Lo’au University led by a professor from the University of Adelaide, Mandy Treagus.
Professor Treagus is the President of the Australian Studies Association in which she teaches Pacific fiction, poetry, film, music and politics and has taken a great liking to the cultural history of the Pacific particularly Tonga.
She also hopes youths of today will preserve their knowledge of the history of Tonga as it is a very rich and unique culture that needs to be passed on to the next generations to come.
Professor Treagus along with 20 students is from the University of Adelaide to carry out seminars in Tonga and will travel to ‘Eua next week for their next seminar.
