Prime Minister receives 2012-2013 budget estimates

The national budget estimates for the financial year 2012/13 has been
formally presented to the Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano.
It was approved by cabinet last week but the Prime minister was out of the
country on an official trip.
The finance minister told a press conference this morning that the budget
will be submitted to the speaker of the Legislative Assembly later today
before parliamentarians discuss it in the house next week.
The budget amounts to 332 million Pa'anga, which includes some foreign aid
money.
For the first time, the budget is due to be published on a government
website in an effort to show more openness and accountability.
